Some news we're very happy to share: Eyja has renewed its Green Globe certification.
And we're still the only hotel in Iceland to hold it.
We're proud of that. But we're even prouder of what it stands for.
What Is Green Globe?
Green Globe is an international certification for sustainable travel and tourism. It's not something you get by putting up a little sign asking guests to reuse their towels.
To be certified, hotels have to meet strict requirements for environmental management, social responsibility and sustainable operations. And then keep meeting them.
That's why the certification is renewed, not handed out once and forgotten. Our renewed certificate confirms that Eyja meets the Green Globe Standard 1.7 in the Hotel & Resort category.
Sustainability, Every Single Day
At Eyja, sustainability isn't a side project. It's simply how we run the hotel.
We work with a Zero Waste mindset that reaches into every part of what we do. Every resource is used with care and respect, from food waste and cleaning products to energy use and waste sorting.
Some of it you'll notice. Most of it happens quietly behind the scenes.
Either way, you don't have to think about it. That's our job.
A Word From Our Team
“We're really proud to have our Green Globe certification renewed. It confirms the work our whole team puts in, every single day,” says Rannveig at Eyja.
“Our goal is to give guests an excellent stay, where thoughtful choices and greener solutions let them relax and enjoy Reykjavík with a clear conscience.”
What It Means for You
Short answer: nothing extra.
You check in. Get comfortable. Sleep ridiculously well. We'll keep doing the eco thinking in the background.

Thank You
A big thank you to our team for all the work behind this certification. And thank you to every guest who chooses to stay with us.
Here's to many more green years at Eyja.
